Delete your account

Your account and the data used to operate Unpound can be erased at any time, for no reason and at no cost. There are two ways to do it and they have the same effect.

Cancel your subscription first. Deleting your Unpound account does not stop renewal with Apple or Google. On iPhone: Settings, your name, then Subscriptions, then Unpound. On Android: the Play Store app, your profile, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, then Unpound.

From inside the app

Open Unpound and go to Settings, then Delete account. You will be asked to confirm once. That is all of it — there is nothing to wait for and nothing to email.

Without the app

Write to privacy@unpound.com from the address on your account, or tell us whether you signed in with Apple or Google and which address you used, so we can find the right account and no other.

It will be erased within 30 days, and normally within a few working days. You will get a message when it is done.

What is deleted

The following data is deleted from the active database:

• your profile — creation date, date of birth, height, biological sex and activity level;
• your current weight and every weigh-in you have recorded;
• every food you logged, on every day, and your saved meals;
• your library and the link between you and foods you entered yourself;
• how much you drank, and any movement mirrored from Apple Health;
• your preferences and all subscription data — status, start and end date, product, store and transaction identifier;
• your Apple or Google sign-in, your verified email address and every session on every device.

This data is deleted from the database immediately and cannot afterwards be recovered through Unpound. Every session becomes invalid at the same moment, on every device — including a device that is offline at the time. Unpound never stores the amount paid or your payment details.

This deletion does not immediately alter existing database backups. A copy may remain there, inaccessible through Unpound. The privacy policy explains how such copies are handled.

What is not deleted, and why

A detached food item. The name, brand and nutritional values of a food you entered may remain if another user had already saved it in their own library. Its account link and your technical identifiers are removed, and the item cannot be found by new users. Name and brand are free text. If you entered personal data there, the text itself may still be recognisable. Email us at privacy@unpound.com so that we can remove or replace that text.

A technical acknowledgement. For thirty days after a notification from Apple or Google, only the message sequence number is kept. This prevents the same notification from being processed twice. It contains no name, account or subscription data.

Apple's and Google's sales records. They sell the subscription on their own account and retain their own purchase records under their policies, possibly for longer where the law requires them to. We cannot delete that data on your behalf.

Your Apple or Google account and the subscription itself. Deleting Unpound does not affect them. Only Apple or Google can cancel the subscription.

Take a copy first?

Before you delete, Settings, then Export my data gives you one file with your whole account in it — every entry, every weigh-in, everything you typed. Once the account is gone we cannot produce it.
